New Rules for Entry into the EU
From 2024, a new visa waiver system for entry into EU countries called the ‘European Travel Information and Authorisation System’ (ETIAS), is scheduled to come into force, although there have been previous delays to its inception.
When enforced, UK citizens (as well as those from around 61 other countries including the US) will need an official ETIAS visa waiver to enter European Union countries. It will be required for trips of up to 90 days (if your stay is longer, another type of visa will be required). The visa waiver is expected to be valid for 3 years and has to be applied for at least 96 hours before arrival in the Schengen Zone. The cost is expected to be around 7€, with all visitors between the ages of 18 and 70 from the listed countries requiring one.
The latest details can be found on the ETIAS website, link below.
