Civil Defence Siren Test
Civil Defence sirens will sound on Wednesday morning, October 1, as part of an annual military and public warning exercise.
The siren tests will start at 11:00 and will then sound for short periods at varying times throughout the country.
Simultaneously with the sounding of the warning sirens, the bells of the churches across Greece will also be rung.
The public is advised that the activation of the Civil Defence sirens is purely for test purposes and therefore there is no reason for concern.
In detail, the sirens will sound as follows:
• local time 11:00, air attack alarm signal, for a duration of (60) seconds (intermittent sound of different intensity) across the entire country,
• local time 11:05, alarm end signal, for a duration of (60) seconds (continuous sound of constant intensity) across the entire country,
• local time 11:10, air attack alarm signal, for a duration of (60) seconds in the Northeastern Region,
• local time 11:15, alarm end signal, for a duration of (60) seconds in the Northeastern Region,
• local time 11:20, air attack alarm signal, for a duration of (60) seconds in the Southern Region,
• local time 11:25, end of alarm signal, for a duration of (60) seconds in the Southern Region,
• local time 11:30, CBRN threat warning alarm signal, for a duration of (120) seconds across the entire country,
• local time 11:35, end of alarm signal, for a duration of (60) seconds across the entire country,
• local time 12:20, end of alarm signal, for a duration of (120) seconds in the Western Region,
• local time 12:25, end of alarm signal, for a duration of (60) seconds in the Western Region,
• local time 12:30, end of alarm signal, for a duration of (60) seconds in the Western Region (120) seconds in the Central Region,
• local time 12:35, alarm end signal, for a duration of (60) seconds in the Central Region,
• local time 12:40, CBRN attack alarm signal, for a duration of (120) seconds across the Attica Region and the Thessaloniki Regional Unit,
• local time 12:45, alarm end signal, for a duration of (60) seconds in the Attica Region and the Thessaloniki Regional Unit,
• local time 12:50, CBRN threat warning alarm signal, for a duration of (120) seconds in the Eastern Region,
• local time 12:55, alarm end signal, for a duration of (60) seconds in the Eastern Region.
