Middle Eastern Troubles Affect Cruises
Due to the continuing threat to shipping using the Suez Canal and the conflicts in the region, cruise companies that until now included Middle Eastern countries including those bordering the Red Sea in their itineraries, are assessing the situation and may be forced to modify the destinations they offer, opting for greater safety in focusing more on Mediterranean countries including Greece.
If the threat to shipping in the region of the Sinai Peninsula continues, it is predicted that cruise ship arrivals in Greek ports will increase by 10% in 2025. However, as many major Greek ports are becoming fully booked for the season, companies will have to look at lesser-known destinations in the Aegean and Ionian seas.
