New Firefighting Aircraft for Greece
In the next 7 years, the Greek Fire Service will be receiving 7 new state-of-the-art firefighting aircraft to add to its existing fleet of 17.
The first two Canadair CL515’s will be arriving in Greece in 2027, with 1 in 2028, one in 2029 and the final 3 in 2030.
After the devastating wildfires in Greece over the last few years, the new aircraft will be an important addition to the government’s overall plans to further strengthen the fire service’s capabilities.
The Canadair CL515’s are amphibious medium-type firefighting aircraft with a water capacity of approximately 6 tons.
The Europian Union has prepared an intergovernmental agreement with Canada for the renewal and strengthening of the fleet of aerial firefighting vehicles within the countries of the union.
