A further temperature drop and strong Northerly winds across the country will dominate the weather for the end of 2025 and into the New Year.

In the evening hours of Wednesday, December 31, and the early morning hours of Thursday, January 1, temporary local snowfalls are likely to occur even in low-altitude areas of Macedonia, Thessaly, the North Aegean, and Eastern Central Greece (including Attica).

The New Year will be characterised by bitterly cold weather, with New Year’s Eve expected to be the coldest day of the winter so far. Heavy frost will be the main feature of the weather on New Year’s Day, as a polar front envelops most of the country.
