Primarily to protect animals from the stress caused by large firework displays at New Year, the northern city of Kavala has opted for silent fireworks for this year’s official display. However, the move is also aimed at reducing noise pollution for the entire local population.

The display will be held at the castle above the city, starting at midnight on the 31st.

The municipality has stressed that the silent fireworks that have been chosen will, as always, produce an amazing and colourful spectacle over the city.
