2027 Could be even Hotter!

Meteorologists are warning that due to the unprecedented growth of the El Niño phenomenon in the Pacific Ocean, 2027 could deliver further excessive temperatures around the world, even breaking records set this year.

El Niño is a natural climate pattern marked by the warming of ocean surface temperatures in the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. It occurs irregularly every two to seven years, weakening standard east-to-west trade winds and drastically shifting global weather and atmospheric circulation systems. This year, the phenomenon is on track to be the strongest ever recorded.

The increase in the phenomenon being detected could mean that next year we may see more extreme weather events, such as prolonged droughts, monsoon-level rains, floods and intense storms. Extreme temperatures are also likely to lead to more major wildfires.

There is growing evidence that weather patterns around the world are already being affected by El Niño, which could even lead to unseasonal and intense weather events this coming Autumn.
