Disabled Access, Santorini
The Municipality of Santorini has added facilities on two of the island’s beaches to help the disabled gain independent access to the sea.
The equipment called SeaTrac, is located on Perissa and Kamari beaches, two of this year’s “Blue Flag” beaches. Specially equipped locker rooms are available, as well as disabled parking near the sites.
The ‘Seatrac’ was developed at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, University of Patras, and manufactured by Tovea, consists of rails on which a specially developed seat runs in and out of the water, controlled by a simple remote control.
Information and assistance can be obtained at the lifeguard tower on the beaches.
