Care Needed When Driving!
Last summer there was a sharp increase in road accidents on the Greek islands, with sadly a high proportion resulting in serious injuries or fatalities.
If you are planning to hire a vehicle during your holiday, we advise that you take extra care and keep your speed to well within acceptable levels for the road conditions.
Slow down at all road junctions, even if you believe you have “right of way”, others may not! Be extra vigilant on “blind corners” and mountain roads. Take note that sand and gravel on the roads can seriously compromise your ability to stop suddenly. This is especially true when on a two wheeled vehicle!
Also remember that in the summer months there are many visitors on the island with low levels of driving skill and those not experienced with driving on the right.
In the unlikely event you are involved in an accident, do not leave the scene or move your vehicle. Immediately phone your hire company and Police and they will advise you on what to do.
Be safe and have a happy holiday!
