Earhquake in Northern Greece
Wednesday, March 25, 21:17 A 5.0 magnitude earthquake shook Northern Greece this evening. The quake struck at 21:08 local time, with its epicentre just off the west coast of the peninsula of Mount Athos. The focal depth of the quake was 10km.
The earthquake was felt strongly in the city of Kavala and on the island of Thassos, which is approximately 50 km from the quake’s epicentre.
The initial quake was followed 8 minutes later (21:16) by an aftershock of 2.8 on the Richter scale. More aftershocks around magnitude 3 are continuing to occur.
No reports of damage have been reported so far.
