Earth Hour
On this coming Saturday, March 28, between 20:30 and 21:30, lights will be turned off around the world for an hour to mark ‘Earth Hour’.
Earth Hour is a worldwide movement organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to raise awareness of the environmental issues facing our planet.
Earth Hour is one of the world’s largest grassroots environmental movements. It aims to bring the world together, shining a spotlight on the climate and nature crisis, and inspiring people to act and advocate for urgent change.
The event is held annually on the last Saturday of March, encouraging individuals, communities and businesses to give an hour for Earth, by turning off lights and refraining from using any electric-powered devices.
The event also includes official buildings, infrastructure and landmarks, when non-essential lights are turned off for the hour.
Earth Hour takes place between 20:30 and 21:30 in every time zone, leading to a ‘rolling’ event as it circles the earth.
