Saturday, August 23 – A fire broke out late yesterday evening in the centre of Thassos Town (Limenas). The fire was in the Xanthopoyloi electrical store, near the Lido Hotel on Megalou Alexandrou Street.

Initial concern was that the fire could spread to the adjacent buildings. However, the local department deployed two fire tenders and quickly brought the blaze under control and finally extinguished it.

Luckily, there doesn’t seem to be any major damage to the store.
