General Strike, Wednesday
A nationwide 24-hour strike has been called by the country’s major unions on Wednesday, April 9. Workers in both the private and public sectors will be participating in the nationwide strike following a call by the General Confederation of Greek Workers and the Greek Workers’ Union for their members’ participation. Workers in the food and tourism sectors, education, local government, health and retail are also expected to participate.
Greek air traffic controllers have announced they will also participate in a 24-hour strike and have stated that during the 24-hour work stoppage, controllers will only handle emergency and priority flights.
The strike will affect ferry services across the country.
