Jellyfish and Anemone Sting Treatment

After a jellyfish or sea anemone sting, immediate intervention is required. For stings, it is recommended that baking soda (Greek: μαγειρική σόδα) diluted in equal parts with sea water is applied to the sting to neutralize the neurotoxin. Then wash thoroughly with alkaline solutions, such as an oil soap, and then apply a cortisone or antibiotic cream. An ice pack helps with vasoconstriction that can reduce the symptoms.

Depending on the intensity of the symptoms, you should contact a pharmacy, doctor, or health centre, as left without care, a sting can cause serious complications, such as nausea, tendency to vomit and tachycardia (rapid heart beat). Those who have an allergy should be particularly careful.
