Medieval Rose Festival, Rhodes
The Medieval Rose Festival is a non-governmental and non-profit cultural organisation. Founded in 2005, its aim was to establish, organise and run a medieval festival οf Rhodes during which, the history, traditions and legends of medieval Rhodes are recreated through events, workshops and games. The Medieval Rose Festival organisation has sought and studied the relevant historical resources, so as to faithfully recreate a time that has left its mark on the island and its cultural heritage.
After initially running a Medieval Fair in 2006, the Medieval Festival was realised in May 2007 with the aim of being an annual event.
During the festival, there will be displays of traditional dancing, archery, jugglers, horse riding, stilt walking, live music concerts, theatre presentations, games and workshops.
The 17th Medieval Rose Festival will be held on October 5 and 6th, mainly in the area of the moat under the D’Amboise Gate. However, during the festival, other special events will also be held around the Medieval Town, including concerts and parades of themed participants through the town.
