The weather is expected to deteriorate from today, Friday, January 9, with a marked drop in temperature. However, on Sunday, a polar air mass will move down into Greece, significantly lowering the temperatures further, accompanied by heavy rain.

Storms and strong northerly winds are forecast for the northeastern Aegean, with the potential of snow at high elevations.

The coldest day of the severe weather is expected to be on Monday, January 12,  when frost will be intense in the north, with temperatures reaching locally down to –12° Celsius and the likelihood of snow at low levels in the Aegean islands.
