The tradition of ‘The Fires of August’ is being revived this year in the village of Kalivia, located near Limenaria in the south of the island.

The event is being staged in the centre of the village on Wednesday, July 31, starting at 20:30.

There will be traditional music and dancing and customary figs, walnuts, Stragali (baked chickpeas) and Loukumedes (Greek doughnuts with honey) will be served.

All are welcome and the event is free.
