Extended Tourist Season in Greece
Plans to extend the tourist season in Greece until November are being set in motion by TUI, the world’s largest travel company, with the Group’s CEO, Sebastian Ebel, expressing confidence that both climatic conditions and global demand favour keeping the flow of visitors beyond the traditional summer season.
Mr Ebel confirmed that the Group is already in advanced discussions with local businesses and hoteliers in Greece to keep their properties open in October and November, commenting that “the weather in Greece is usually very good during this period. We are in constant communication with hotels to make this happen, and we see ourselves as the inspirer of this effort”.
TUI’s strategy for extending the season is based on the fact that more and more travellers are looking for quieter periods with fewer crowds, more attractive prices, and still favourable weather conditions. The Group’s global sales platform makes it possible to attract customers from many different markets, ensuring that occupancy levels can be maintained even outside the “peak” season.
