Bean Feast, August 31, Thassos
The cultural association of the village of Maries, located 13 km inland from the island’s west coast, will be holding its annual “Bean Feast” on Sunday, August 31.
The feast will include free bean soup, traditional live music, song and dance and a raffle. The event is free to attend and will start at 14:00 in the courtyard of the village church.
The village sits in a valley south of Mount Ipsarion, 4.2 km northwest of the historic village of Theologos and 4.9 km northeast of the southern port town of Limenaria. A road runs up to the village from the coastal village of Skala Maries (Skala Marion).
Bean soup, a traditional meal, is made with white beans and other vegetables, herbs and spices, otherwise known as Fasolada in Greek and is the ultimate delicious comfort meal.
