Travel Firms Collapse
Holiday bookings are currently experiencing a significant decline across several major markets, and the downturn has contributed to the collapse of several travel firms. Regen Central Ltd, Gold Crest Holidays, Asiara UK and Simply Florida.
Additionally, the long-standing platform Lastminute.com.au, owned by Expedia, has announced it will stop accepting new bookings in June 2026. The shutdown does not affect the main British Expedia platform, which has been owned by the Swiss travel booking giant Bravofly Rumbo Group since 2015.
Changes in consumers’ approach to travel and holiday booking also led to a number of European travel firms going under in 2025, including Great Little Escapes, Mixx Travel, Jetline, Tango Travel, New Era Travel and French cruise operator Expedis Exploration.
