10th Rhodes Jazz Festival
The Rhodes Jazz Festival returns to the island for the 10th year. The festival will be from Friday, September 19 until Sunday the 21st and will be held in the ruins of the church of Our Lady of the Bourg in Rhodes Medieval Town.
Friday, September 19 – Official opening of the festival.
Jazz Expressions – A band consisting of artists who live and are artistically active in Rhodes. Their program includes Jazz Standards, Jazz Funk, as well as compositions by Giorgos Longos.
Hydrolic – Their music, with influences from jazz, funk, jazz hop, neo soul, drum n’ bass and many other genres, creates a groovy atmosphere while adding their personal style.
The band has successfully performed in many venues and festivals on the Greek scene, while currently preparing to record its first album.
Saturday, September 20 – Concert by Manto. Shortly before Manto’s concert with the Yiorgos Fakanas Group, Zafiris Skandaliaris is the DJ who will prepare the audience through a selection of jazz standards, jazz funk as well as his own original compositions.
The well-known and undeniably high-level vocal performances of Mantos, will accompany the greatest Jazz-Fusion group of Greece, the YFG (Yiorgos Fakanas Group). This will be a musical concert covering many of the greatest songs of world cinema.
Sunday, September 21 – Ediz Hafizoglu Trio. Led by one of Turkey’s most creative and pioneering drummers, the Ediz HafızoÄŸlu Trio offers a bold musical experience that moves seamlessly between genres. With Gökhan Sürer on keyboards and electronics and Eylem Pelit on bass, the trio explores the rich terrain where jazz, improvisation and contemporary sonic textures intersect. Their music is a bridge between East and West — combining the structure of modern jazz with notes of traditional melodies, layered over electronic landscapes. The trio’s live performances are never the same twice: they are spontaneous, immersive and built moment by moment through deep musical dialogue.
The events start each evening at 20:00 and are free to attend.
