Holidaymakers who are travelling abroad this summer are being warned that many travel adapters being offered for sale online have been found to be dangerous.

Consumer safety group Electrical Safety First (ESF) tested 14 products from AliExpress, Amazon Marketplace, eBay and TikTok Shop, and found they all failed to meet UK safety requirements.

AliExpress, Amazon, eBay and TikTok all confirmed that the products flagged by ESF had been removed from sale.

Among the possible dangers identified was electrocution and overheating leading to the adapter catching fire. Many low-cost adapters being offered look like a bargain, but could lead to ruining your holiday!

The advice is that shoppers should buy travel adaptors from trusted retailers so they can travel with confidence.
