Heatwave Forecast
Saturday, August 22 – The latest heatwave affecting Greece will see temperatures peak tomorrow and Monday as hot air masses continue to move northward from Africa.
According to the current forecast, local temperatures around 40°C are expected over much of the mainland over the weekend and into early next week, with temperatures in the 30s persisting into the night.
Temperatures in the Aegean islands will be a little lower due to strong Meltemi winds reaching as high as 7 on the Beaufort scale. However, the strong winds coupled with the excessive temperatures increase the risk of wildfires to high (level 3) in most regions.
This latest heatwave is expected to persist for at least the next week.
