Summer Solstice
This year the Summer Solstice (Midsummer) is on Sunday, June 21, marking it the longest day of the year; the day with the most hours of sunlight. In terms of daylight, it will be 5 hours, 16 minutes longer than on December Solstice. In most locations north of Equator, the longest day of the year is around this date.
Summer solstice occurs when the sun is directly above the Tropic of Cancer and is taken by many to mark the first day of summer.
