Campaign against those not Wearing a Helmet continues

The “Zero tolerance for not wearing a helmet” campaign by the Greek Police continues, aimed at universal compliance among drivers and passengers of two-wheelers, as well as ATVs and Light Personal Electric Vehicles (electric scooters).

Throughout this summer, Police Departments across the country will be conducting strict checks on motorcycles, motorcycle rental businesses, tourists on rented bikes and ATVs and professional delivery bikes and their employers.

The latest data confirm that the offensive against those violating the Highway Code Law is sending a clear message of zero tolerance for the non-use of a helmet on two-wheeled vehicles and ATVs.

The penalties for non-compliance with the law are as follows:

– 350 euro fine and withdrawal of driving license for 30 days for the two/four-wheel vehicle driver (The same sanctions apply to the driver who does not ensure the safety of the passenger).

– 350 euro fine for the passenger of the vehicle.

– 30 euro fine for the user of a Light Personal Electric Vehicle (electric scooter).

The campaign’s aim is to change the perception of drivers and passengers regarding the mandatory wearing of a certified helmet as an elementary and essential life protection measure.
